First off, I get the Second Amendment … you want to owns guns. You do own guns. Good for you. I’m happy for you. I don’t own guns but I am fine with you owning them. Wondering when your militia meets each week but what the fuck.
But will you at least shut the hell up about the Government coming to take them. They’re not. Gun regulation is not the same as taking your guns. It’s not the first step in taking your guns. This country will always have guns and the Second Amendment will never go away. As long as there is penis-envy, we will own guns. Quit going ape-shit on the issue.
It would help to get some better arguments for owning guns though. Just say you’re allowed to own them because of the Constitution. Done deal. Quit saying you need guns to protect yourself FROM the government. You don’t. Pick Missouri and you could put a gun in every citizen’s hand and provide each person access to unlimited ammo and it would take the worst division of the Marines about 20 minutes to ‘take’ St. Louis. You dumb fuckers would be shooting at the Arch, looking at your iPhones and checking the Cardinals score. Our military invaded and captured Baghdad in about two days and Iraq is on the other side of the planet and they actually had an army.
And shut the hell up that responsible gun owners are not the problem. We know they’re not. Neither are responsible drivers or responsible home owners or responsible anyone – but we still regulate owning cars and houses and other items. If everyone was responsible, we don’t need any laws at all.
And quit saying “If we outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns” … because no one wants to outlaw your goddamn guns. And no one uses the term “outlaw” either. This isn’t 1872 and no one needs to wire the Governor to get a Sheriff.
And even if the government wanted to take all of the guns it could never happen. There would be no way in this country you could ever find all of the guns for one thing. There are 320 million people in this country and probably 400 million guns. If there was ever a hint that guns would be taken from citizens, then when the Fed came knocking, people could just say that their guns were stolen or they sold them or lost them. It would have to be voluntary anyway as no Government employee is going to walk up to Jethro’s house in South Carolina and ask him to hand over his arsenal. He wouldn’t make it halfway to the trailer before he was blasted all over the guy’s Confederate Flag.
And anyway, you could also just hide your guns and lie and say you don’t own them. A gun isn’t a person, it doesn’t need food or water or any support system that would ‘tip’ the police off you’re hiding one.
No one would find them.
